American Students Visiting Faculty of Organization and Informatics

In the period from 03 July 12th July 2010 Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb was the host of interdisciplinary student research conference which was jointly organized by the University of Central Florida in Orlando (UCF) and the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb (FOI).
 
In addition to the official conference program, UCF students and FOI-participated in various activities and visits to learn more about the local community, the history of the region, cultural and natural heritage, a variety of activities in which they participated were organized with the aim of acquiring new intercultural competence. Group UCF students and FOI-visited the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, Opatija Town, Varaždin County and 1 Elementary school in Varaždin, Trakošćan Castle Museum in Krapina Neanderthals and Varaždin spa, a volunteered at the European Championships in Athletics for people with intellectual disabilities.
Given that this visit was very useful not only for UCF students, but also for FOI students, we will try to convert the program into an exchange program and continue to work on other levels of cooperation. FOI and UCF have signed the Umbrella Agreement on academic co-operation on the 1st July 2010, which will be the foundation for future joint activities and exchange of research projects.

On the occasion of the stay of six students at the University of Central Florida in Orlando in Varaždin, today morning at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics adequately presented program visit UCF students Varaždin FOI-ju.
It is about six students at the University of Central Florida from the U.S. to one week stay in Varaždin, in order to take advantage of the cross-cultural cooperation between the two universities introduced a new culture, people and exchange experiences.
On behalf of the organizers of Americans staying with colleagues in Varaždin, Dr. Violeta Vidaček Hainz noted that the project began random meeting in Zagreb, and has resulted in this great cooperation. Coordinator of UCF's Michael Aldarondo Jeffries said the purpose of their visit colleagues in Croatia, adding that they are here to exchange experiences and future cooperation between the two universities. In order to adopt an intercultural competencies and established a viable program of exchange students FOI-I and the University of Florida, at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in the coming week will be carried out presentations, discussions and workshops. American students will visit the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, Opatija, I. Elementary School Varaždin, Trakošćan, various museums and Roman excavations in Varaždin Spas, and thus meet the City and its surroundings. Besides sightseeing, the students will volunteer at the Open European Championships in Athletics persons with intellectual disabilities that begins today in Varaždin.

The conference was jointly organized by the University of Central Florida in Orlando (UCF) and the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb (FOI). Project leader Prof. dr. Blaženka Divjak, Dean for Science and International Cooperation, a project organized doc. Dr. Violeta Vidaček-Hainš and Renata Horvatek, prof.
In addition to the official conference program, students from Varaždin is Florida participated in various activities and visits to learn more about the local community, the history of the region, cultural and natural heritage, a variety of activities in which they participated were organized in order to acquire new intercultural competence. A group of American students and students of the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, visited the U.S. Embassy in Zagreb, the city of Opatija, Varaždin County and 1 elementary school in Varaždin, Trakošćan Castle, Museum of the Krapina Neanderthals and Varaždin Spa, a volunteer at the European Championships in Athletics for people with intellectual disabilities. The program was held research café, popular SciBar titled "The mission of finding a supernova, which was run by students of Robert and John Gregić Skokić. Science Café County of financial support. Given the fact that this visit was extremely useful not only to UCF students, but students FOI's, will try to convert the program into a traditional exchange program two higher education institutions of the United States and the Croatian and continue cooperation on other levels. University of Central Florida and the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, University of Zagreb signed a bilateral agreement on academic cooperation the 1st July this year, which will be the basis for future joint activities and exchange of research projects.
As well as gain new knowledge and valuable experience, students have made strong friendships. Guests from Florida will be our ambassadors in their own country and spread good news about Varaždin, Croatia.
