Candice Torres was born in Silver Spring, MD. Her father from Puerto Rico and her mother is from Panama. Her research interests include human rights, service-learning and religious international studies. Under the guidance of her mentor, Dr. Sadri, Candice is currently working on her Honors in the Major topic concerning sex trafficking with a focus on Florida and Costa Rica. As a former Lead Scholar, Candice conducted research assistantships with the Service-Learning Department and the Modern Language Department. She currently works at the American Lung Association as a board management coordinator and was an intern in the summer of 2009 at the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission International Business Sector. With experience in service-learning and nonprofit management, Candice is interested in conducting research tying both of those areas with international studies.
