June 26 & 27: The wonderful hospitality in Croatia

Agritourism with the Kosec Family

The scholars were in for a real treat today. After our last lunch at Restaurant Park (Hvala Varaždin)! We took a drive out to one of the FOI student’s homes to experience Croatian Agri-Tourism. During Diana’s research presentation on Agri-Tourism we learned quite a bit about domestic animals, beautiful places to visit and traditional Croatian culture. Now we had the privilege to experience it in full swing at Diana’s home. Diana and her parents were welcoming and generous they showed us their farm, animals and let us help in preparing a delicious meal. Diana gave us traditional instruments called Tambura samica – Hvala. The scholars loved them as did I. The meal was amazing and we got to try homemade goat cheese, handpicked cherries and goat milk. The experience was priceless. Such a great way to end our time in Croatia.  Tomorrow will be spent saying goodbye to our amazing new friends.  Now it is time to catch a bit of rest before our flight on the 28th.
